Frequently Asked Questions

What are the center's age restrictions?

A child must be at least 2 years old in order to begin the 2s class. This requirement is firm.

What is the student : teacher ratio for each class?

  • 2s Class: 5:1

  • 3s Class: 6:1

  • 4s Class: 9:1

What is the center's potty training policy?

Children in the 2-year-old class are not required to be potty trained. Children in the 3s class must be daytime potty trained (no pull-ups or diapers) to be admitted to 3s and 4s classes.

What are typical tuition/fees?

When is tuition due?

Tuition is charged on a weekly basis and is due on Monday (or the first day of the week). Parents have the option of paying tuition on a monthly or bi-monthly schedule.

Checks should be made payable to Friendship Child Care Center. Credit cards are not accepted for payment.

A late payment fee may be charged if payment is not received after a grace period of 5 days.

What is the center's admissions policy?

Friendship Child Care Center is a non-profit organization operated under the guidance of Friendship United Methodist Church. Children of all faiths are welcomed.

Current and former students, siblings, and Friendship UMC members receive priority placement.

New family applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis after all priority applications have been received. Waiting lists will be maintained when classes are full.

Are teachers CPR and first aid trained?

Yes, staff regularly certified CPR, First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and Medication Administration Training (MAT).

What additional measures is the center taking in response to the pandemic?

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Friendship Child Care Center is observing increased health and safety measures. We are in compliance with the regulations issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia, the Virginia Department of Social Services, and the Fairfax County Health Department and will be following guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control. We also comply with regulations of the Department of Education, who licenses and governs childcare centers.

Additional measures safety measures to make our center healthy and safe include:

  • wearing of face masks

  • social distancing

  • enhanced cleaning protocols

  • outdoor pick-up and drop-off

  • increased health monitoring

What is the center's inclement weather policy?

FCCC follows the Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) closing schedule in the event of bad weather, which means if FCPS announces a:

  • One-hour delay, the Center will not open until 8:30 AM.

  • Two-hour delay, the Center will not open until 9:30 AM.

  • Closure due to inclement weather, the Center will also close on the same schedule.

It is important to check with local radio and television stations for up-to-date information on delays and closing of FCPS.
