Infrastructure Grant Announcement
Dear Friends,
I am thrilled to announce that Friendship was recently awarded a generous grant from the Northern Virginia District of the United Methodist Church (UMC) to support much-needed infrastructure upgrades to our church facilities. This is a testament to the connectional nature of the UMC, the dedicated efforts of our Trustees and Grant Writing Team, and the vibrant and growing ministry taking place at Friendship.
Thanks to this grant, Friendship will be able to move forward with several key projects this summer, which include:
Renovating the Fellowship Hall—our central hub for worship, gatherings, and outreach—by replacing walls and flooring, refinishing the stage, upgrading lighting, improving acoustics, and installing new energy-efficient windows.
Modernizing the Lower-Level Restrooms with new floors, child-height toilets and sinks, and improved lighting to better serve our schools, children’s ministry, and families.
Other Possible Improvements include painting and other upgrades to the Choir Room and connecting hallway, as well as ADA modifications to the front entrance to provide a more welcoming entry for all.
Each of these projects will help Friendship create safer, more welcoming, and more functional spaces that reflect the love and hospitality we strive to embody as a church.
I am deeply grateful to the Northern Virginia District leadership for their support and to all the members here at Friendship for your generosity. (Check out the Official Press Release from the NoVa District regarding the grant awards that were given to 11 local churches.)
The Trustees anticipate that work will begin sometime in mid-summer. They will keep the congregation apprised as planning progresses. If you have any questions, please speak with Don Hixson or me.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Jim
