Stewardship Campaign

An Invitation to Give

“Arise and Shine for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.” - Isaiah 60:1

Friendship Stewardship Campaign 2022

November 20, 2021

Dear Friendship family,

The times were incredibly hard, and the future looked grim. The exiles were returning to Jerusalem after suffering for 50+ plus years, 1700 miles away in Babylon. They discovered the city in ruins. The Temple of the Lord was reduced to rubble, their former pastures were now a wilderness and the city's inhabitants were hostile. They had their work cut out for them! But the word of the Lord came to those exiles through Isaiah, ''Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you." This message told those exiles that God was with them.

This is a great metaphor for the last few years we have been through and I believe that it will continue to be a metaphor for the year to come. Just like the exiles, we need a message of Hope; a message of Vision; a message of Action. Friendship, all during the pandemic, in circumstances no one could even imagine, you have remained so faithful. Your financial support has allowed the critical work of the church and our outreach to the community to continue uninterrupted. Even when Friendship was not able to be together in person, it has been able to do the work of being the hands and feet of Christ in our community. This year we have begun like those exiles, returning home. Home to the church, beginning step by step to rebuild all that was put on pause. But more than just going back to our old things, we have begun new things together. And this is a letter of thanks. Thank you! Thank you for welcoming me into your ministry. Thank you for your continued care and love for one another and for Friendship UMC. Thank you for your faith in Jesus Christ! My message to you today is one of appreciation and a request and prayer that you continue with this faithfulness in 2022.

I know that we will have so much work to do next year. The needs in the community have not lessened but rather have dramatically increased. We continue to be called to be the body of Christ here in Falls Church and throughout our region. We look forward to a year of reaching out to our community in the name of Christ. We are also looking forward to the joy and celebration and support we will have for one another as a church family in the coming year.

Today, our church council invites you to indicate your financial support for Friendship going forward into 2022. Your support is critical to our church and our mission. By participating in this campaign, you help us to be better stewards through budget and planning. Please consider making a weekly, monthly, or annual financial commitment. Clicking on the button below will take you to an Estimate of Giving form.

We ask you to start praying now about how God wants to use you and how your tithe or offering can empower Friendship's ministry. It's time to rise and shine, for your light has come. Truly the glory of the Lord is rising upon us.

Grace and Peace,

Rev. Chrissy Ridings
